avresirocsob -4 del 24-4-2014: Occhiovista a la saracinesca

Ho visto il film-musical “Tommy” per intero solo una volta. Poi ne ho riascoltato brani sparsi via via. Uno di quelli che più mi rimase impresso nel film è il seguente.

L’imprinting che mi è rimasto è legato alla forma del basso di John Entwhistle, alla forma del riff di basso che accompagna il pezzo, con la pausetta di stacco, all’atmosfera di devozione profana che il pezzo emana.

Poi vai a scoprire che il pezzo è liberamente adattato da un bluesaccio per armonica di Sonny Boy Williamson e ti tocca decidere se -nel semplificarlo e riarrangiarlo- Townsend e soci hanno fatto bene o male.

A sensazione mia sulla musica hanno fatto bene , mentre sul testo hanno fatto male, dato che l’originale è molto più divertente.

Il tema generale, una volta di più è della vista, della cecità (qui allargato anche agli altri sensi, ma partendo dalla vista come n° 1), dei fattori che possono determinarne il miglioramento o il danneggiamento.
E’ curioso che per la maggior parte degli autori di canzoni che mi vengono in mente, il senso più importante risulti la vista, e non l’udito.

Sul tema, comunque, la miglior canzone per me rimane a oggi “Movin’ on up” dei Primal Scream (già passata un paio di volte su queste pagine, nel 2011 e poi nel 2012 ), e con questa vi saluto e vi do appuntamento a lunedì 28 per il -3 del boscoriserva.
